Photographer touching his subject, a frog, on the nose

Our Story…

MacroFine Photography has been an Overnight Success… well, actually about 14,600 “overnights”. Kathy and I started collaborating on a variety of artistic genres in the mid-1980’s. Fused glass jewelry and wall decor. Hand-screened and painted children’s clothing. Silly acrylic paintings of dogs and cats doing ‘people’ things. And now, roughly 40 years later, we offer unique photographic views of the elegance and beauty of our natural world. What will be next … ?

Our Process…

MacroFine’s Aluminum Photographic Wall Sculptures bring you brilliant images through the “magic” of Dye Sublimation. Well, we think it’s magic since we’re amazed every time we pull a piece out of the press!

Using only our original photographs — culled from thousands down to our select few — we work them in the computer to fine-tune the aesthetics, the ‘feeling’, and emotion in the image. Every one of our images needs to carry a message to the viewer… that is, after all, the whole point of Art.

We begin with our image printed on transfer paper using special papers and inks. This is then attached face-to-face with the panel and pressed under a little pressure and 400 degrees. This process sublimates the ink (and image) out of the paper and binds it to the polymer receiving surface of the aluminum. Peeling the paper away reveals the finished, brilliant image. We’re in awe every time!
