Rest of the Story…Downy Drops

On a breezy fall day, as I was walking around our local Mulligan Pond in Alexandria, I spied some goose down on the ground. The morning mist was clinging to the downy bits creating a unique photographic opportunity.  Due to the wind, I decided to move this shoot indoors where I was able to capture the beauty and rhythm of this amazing feather. 

Downy Drops is printed on Aluminum creating a stunning, vibrant, and contemporary piece. The sculptural S-curve brings an added drama and fluidity and we used the inverse (negative) of the image for this S-curve. The dye sublimation process embeds the photo directly into a specially coated aluminum sheet using heat, time, pressure, and special inks. Aluminum is easy to care
